Cantilever Vertical Conveyor Between Levels

Case : Automation Project for STIHL

STIHL is one of the most recognized manufacturers of garden, forestry and professional equipment worldwide. In 2023 alone, the company sold over 20 million units globally. In Ukraine, STIHL has been present for more than 20 years with its dealer network, service centers and logistics hubs.

For a company of this scale, stability, precision and safety of internal logistics are fundamental. Thousands of units move through their facilities every day, so even small delays matter.

Which is why STIHL chooses partners capable of delivering advanced, customized transport systems — and we are proud to be among them.

Client challenges

The STIHL logistics center needed to ensure fast and safe movement of product boxes between the warehouse levels.

Before automation:

  • tasks required up to 30% more time,

  • throughput was limited to 150 boxes/hour,

  • employees had excessive physical workload,

  • there were risks of accidents or dropped loads,

  • micro-delays accumulated throughout the day.

The client needed a solution providing reliability, speed and maximum safety.

Our solution — a cantilever vertical conveyor

We engineered a custom cantilever lifting conveyor designed specifically for STIHL’s logistics operations.

Key technical features:

  • 🚀 Throughput: 600–800 boxes/hour

  • 🛡 Full safety enclosure using corrugated protective mesh (EN ISO 13857 compliant)

  • 🔒 Automatic shutdown when any mesh section is opened

  • 📍 Control panels on each level

  • 🏋 Reinforced frame with powder coating

  • 🔄 Soft-start and soft-stop functions

  • 📦 Compatible with various container and box types

Advantages of the cantilever concept

  • saves up to 3× more space than shaft-type lifts,

  • no need for building a shaft,

  • quick integration into existing production lines,

  • ideal for warehouses, logistics hubs and factories.

How KONSORT manufactures such systems

A complete in-house process consisting of:

1️⃣ Logistics audit
2️⃣ 3D modeling and load calculations
3️⃣ Production of parts at our metalworking facility
4️⃣ Welding and structural assembly
5️⃣ Electrical installation and programming
6️⃣ Testing under real working loads

Manufacturing time: 15–30 working days.

Similar solutions we produce

KONSORT builds:

  • vertical conveyors (VRC, LRC),

  • shaft-type lifting systems,

  • S-curve conveyors,

  • multi-level modular and belt conveyors,

  • side-feed vertical loaders.

Demand for vertical transport systems in Ukraine grows by 20–30% each year.

Results for the client

After implementation, STIHL received:
✔ a 35–40% boost in logistic efficiency,
✔ reduced physical workload for employees,
✔ near-zero accident risk,
✔ smooth and predictable product flow between levels,
✔ modernization without structural reconstruction.

STIHL remained fully satisfied and has continued to implement new projects with us.

We love what we do — engineering strong solutions from Ukraine 🧡
